What counts as a reasonable hour

The planner treats 9:00 to 21:00 local time as a polite window for a personal call, on both sides. Businesses usually answer in a shorter window (roughly 9:00 to 17:00 on weekdays), and banks, public offices and consulates often close earlier. Weekends and public holidays change the picture too, so check an office’s opening hours as well.

Countries with more than one time zone

For countries that span several time zones, such as the United States, Brazil, Russia, Mexico or Australia, the planner uses one main zone and names the city it follows next to each clock. If the person you are calling lives elsewhere in that country, adjust by the difference from that city.

Daylight saving time

The difference changes when one side switches to or from daylight saving time, and the two sides rarely switch on the same day. The planner reads the current rules from your browser, so the times it shows are right for today.
