Our story
Why I built Hyallo
I'm Renan, a data engineer from Brazil living as an expat in the Netherlands. For years, Skype was how I called back home: to my family, to my bank, to the doctor's office, to government services. When it went away, I spent far too long looking for a good replacement.
Everything I tried had a catch. Some needed the other person to install an app. Others hid the real price behind subscriptions, connection fees or credits that expired. Carrier roaming rates were simply out of the question. All I wanted was to open my laptop, type a number and talk to someone in Brazil at a fair price.
So I built it. Hyallo was first a tool for myself. Once it worked, I realised how many people are in the same situation, so I decided to open it up to everyone who lives far from home, or who simply needs to call another country without paying a huge amount for a simple call.
